Hemp Seed Matting / Growth Media

Hemp matting growth media is made only from 100% hemp fibre, making it totally biodegradable and compostable, which will reduce the environmental impact of any grow system.

This green growing solution is ideal for hydroponics and microgreen cultivation systems, as this substrate material offers excellent water holding capacity, with no contaminants for plant uptake. The open fibrous structure offers excellent growth and root development potential, allowing plants to quickly germinate and establish. Once harvested, this material can simply be composted, reducing non-biodegradable waste outputs from your controlled environment farm.

The hemp mats are available as a standard tray cut size (250 mm x 500 mm), or in larger 1 m x 1 m squares, or in rolls of 1 metre width x 15 m length.

Cultivation using this substrate is simple – in a seed tray, lay a single mat and cover with enough water to moisten the fibre (either with or without nutrients, depending on your system). Sprinkle seeds (mustard, cress, wheatgrass, etc.) evenly onto the damp mat and cover in darkness to encourage germination. Once shoots have established transfer to a light environment.
